• Jason Cottrell

Jason is a mathematics teacher for a high-school At-Risk program near downtown San Antonio. He considers himself a jack-of-trades, so to speak, with respect to athletics. Jason has competed in a multitude of sports ranging from martial arts and fencing, to equestrian sports, running, cycling, and triathlons. One of his greatest accomplishments is completing the 2011 Ironman Triathlon-Kona in 13 hours.
Now that Jason is in the “masters” category for competitions, he has a better understanding of the plight of someone who struggles with fitness and weight at any age. After the Ironman Triathlon, Jason didn’t know what else to do. What is more challenging than an Ironman Triathlon? For a few years Jason struggled with maintaining fitness and a healthy weight. Finally, in December of 2013, he decided to try something new. CrossFit gave Jason the physical and mental challenge he was seeking to return to and maintain fitness.
Jason enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences, which is probably why he’s a teacher. As a teacher, his mission is to not only teach the mathematics, but to teach the love of mathematics. As an athlete and a coach, his mission is to help others accomplish their fitness or competition goals through effective CrossFit training techniques and to be an ambassador for fitness and promote the participation in a variety of sports.
