Life is about balance. Whether you are an elite athlete or someone working out once or twice a week, you have to find a balance in your life to make your goals happen. Even with all the commitments we have in life–family, work, children, school, and play, there is a way to find balance. Fortunately, I have managed to find that balance at CWS. It not only includes doing CrossFit and yoga, but it includes teaching and helping people meet their life goals.
I first tried yoga in 1999 and at the time, my practice was purely physical and it was very sporadic. Little did I know that almost 11 years later I would start on a life journey with yoga that would teach me so much about myself. In 2010, I received my 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher certification from the Esther Vexler Yoga School and have been teaching hatha yoga since then. I had been a runner for most of my life and competed in races from 5ks to marathons, and I attribute yoga to keeping me injury-free. Yoga has provided me the flexibility and agility to keep moving, as well as the mental focus to keep calm and quiet my mind.
In March 2012 I started CrossFit and quickly realized that all the benefits I received from yoga could be transferred to my CrossFit workouts. CrossFit became another facet of my life that taught me to be mentally and physically strong. The constantly varied and functional workouts of CrossFit drove me to be in the best shape of my life. The results and strides that I was making in CrossFit encouraged me to pursue the CrossFIt Level 1 Trainer certification in December 2012. There are tons of reason why I do CrossFit, but most of all I am impressed and inspired by the athletes that come to our gym. It’s amazing to see people from all walks of life, all with different goals, but a common drive to do better. To be part of that is what drives me to be a better coach.
At CrossFit Warrior Spirit, I teach both CrossFit and yoga classes. In yoga, I aim to foster a class that helps our athletes rest and recover. While in CrossFit, I blend motivation with the right amount of supervision to help athletes tap their potential and then take it to another level. My classes will encourage you to take yoga off the mat and CrossFit off the bar, and teach you to practice balance with everything you do in sport and life. Namaste.
